In Special Session, Senate Passes Schiavo Bill

_
UPDATE: Does the Media Know that Bush's Texas Law Is Allowing Deaths?
Excerpt -
By now most people who read liberal blogs are aware that George W. Bush signed a law in Texas that expressly gave hospitals the right to remove life support if the patient could not pay and there was no hope of revival, regardless of the patient's family's wishes. It is called the Texas Futile Care Law. Under this law, a baby was removed from life support against his mother's wishes in Texas just this week.

In Special Session, Senate Passes Schiavo Bill

Washington Post, Sunday, March 20, 2005; 7:50 PM : The Senate voted today to give federal courts jurisdiction over the case of a brain-damaged Florida woman, an extraordinary legislative move designed to permit a U.S. judge to order the reinsertion of a feeding tube that a state court allowed to be removed Friday.

House members planned to pass the measure a few minutes after midnight, and then rush it to President Bush for his signature, thus writing another chapter in an emotionally charged saga that has divided the patient's family and many Americans over right-to-die questions. House leaders were scrambling to summon 218 colleagues to the chamber -- the minimum for a quorum -- in order to pass the bill in the earliest moments of Monday. Congress had begun a long-planned two-week recess, and many lawmakers were traveling.

Shiavo Husband to President Bush: COME TO FLORIDA AND MEET MY WIFE
Excerpt - Angered by the latest political developments in Washington, Michael Schiavo said Saturday that it isn't just the Florida governor who should visit his wife to learn about the case.

Jeb Bush's brother, President Bush, should visit Terri Schiavo, too, he said.

"Come down, President Bush," Schiavo said in a telephone interview. "Come talk to me. Meet my wife. Talk to my wife and see if you get an answer. Ask her to lift her arm to shake your hand. She won't do it."

**RELATED: Armondo @ Daily Kos: Reid Blows It
Harry Reid: “I am pleased Senator Frist and I were able to pass the bill that protects the life of Terri Schiavo by allowing her parents to go to federal court. If the House Republicans refuse to pass our bipartisan bill, they bear responsibility for the consequences.”

Armondo: Senator Reid, this bill is an outrage. I can understand your thinking on agreeing to let it come to a vote. I can even see why you would vote for it, sort of. But to praise it this way and then to talk about bearing responsibility for the consequences? That is just AWFUL! The case was fully heard by the Courts. They reached a final decision. It is over. This base political game from Republicans was, if something needed to be said, to be denounced, not to be praised. You, Sen. Reid, have just snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, letting the GOP off the hook for this sheer abuse of power and lunacy. This is simply a terrible terrible decision, not because it will hurt Dems, but because it doesn't allow the American people to have a clear view of how extremist and out of the mainstream the GOP is. I deplore your statement and fear you have made a terrible terrible mistake.

Hard Comment: I am amazed that our lawmakers are carrying out this crusade. If any of these lawmakers were in the same state as Terry Shiavo, they'd want to take their guns and blow their brains out to end their lives completely rather than be left in such a state of
'Brain Dead'.

If anything, this case surely does indirectly promote the wisdom of having a living will. Is there anyone out there that would 'not want to be put to death' after spending 15 years in the condition that Terry Shiavo is in?

It will be interesting to watch the Husband of Terry eventually Sue everyone who has suggested that he physically beat Terry which induced her stroke which has led to this state of living hell that she is in. (Terry's Dad, and Sean Hannity)

It really belonged up top, as an 'UPDATE' - so look up and click the Update Link.

Turns out, the very thing that the husband in Florida is attempting to do and is being rejected, is the LAW IN TEXAS - SIGNED INTO LAW BY BUSH.

Bush's Law had a feeding tube removed from a Baby in a Hospital just about a week ago, and the Baby Starved to Death.
