Science Wins Again - Predictions of Another Major Earthquake in Indonesia Right on Target

_
ABC NEWSONLINE MARCH 17, 2005:
Scientists fear another major quake may strike Indonesia

Seismologists say there is a heightened risk that a major earthquake may soon strike the western coast of Sumatra as a result of the monster quake that generated the December 26 tsunami.

They warn that the Indonesian city of Banda Aceh, which was already badly hit by the killer wave, could be at risk from a quake measuring up to 7.5 on the Richter scale and there is a potential for a tsunami-making 8.5 quake offshore.

"There is no doubt, our calculations show a very significant increase on stress on two major active faults in the Sumatra region," seismologist John McCloskey at Britain's University of Ulster told AFP.

Hard Comment: As Science is Under Attack From Religious Groups in America and major News Networks have 'Men of God' on their news shows on a daily basis, It will be interesting to see them react to this story if they were asked to explain why this has happened, again, or if something awful did follow this, would they be asked if they have 'Lost any Faith in God' and maybe some more respect in Science . But something tells me they will not be asked, because it would infuriate the base audience that is left watching these manipulating broadcasts on a daily basis called news.

A Scientist was also in the Indonesian Area last summer saying that a Massive Earthquake and Tsuanmi's were imminent in the near future. I wonder if he was posing as a 'Man of God' would he have been taken more seriously?

Its a shame that it took an event like this to take the spotlight off of Terry Shiavo, now Terri Shiavo's plight is only 80% of news coverage, and may go down even more if this earthquake creates a Tsuanami.

HARD TO BELIEVE BUT TRUE: A participant on a blog site I was just reading pointed out that the first major earthquake / Tsunami hit a day after Christmas, now, a Major Earthquake hit the region the day after Easter.

Update: Todays earthquake off the coast of Indonesia was located south of where the location of the December 26th Earthquake Epicenter.

Also, there is an island off to the immediate top left of the map from where todays epicenter is located, which most likely would have stopped any wave motion towards the coast of Africa, but it would have rebounded them to the coast of Indonesia.

But so far, fortunatly there has been no Tsunami, so thats a good thing all in all.

But, aftershocks could happen, and I am not a scientist, so, my view is as accurate as those who are on the TV right now telling you whats going on.

To those of you out there that may have posted a comment and do not see it, don't bug out, this blogging service really sucks, my first comment on this as a follow up has not appeared, maybe it will later, maybe this will eventually get published too.

Again, this crappy service on this blog service is one of the reasons why I decided not to directly link to this service with the current events going on out there.

Thanks Hard for all you do, your site is where I first read about the earthquake(aftershock)I at first reading it thought of its relationship to the day after, and then your quote about seeing on a blog post the day after Christmas and the day after Easter, well it was in my mind already, I am christian and I am convinced God is telling us something, something obvious......like maybe wake up and fear the wrath?(and the earthquake great as it is, well its clearly far from being the most devastating natural force, more like a knock on the door before the swat team enters in my opinion) in any case science to me is not anti-christian or anti faith, it is my opinion that science validates many if not all concepts related to religeon, afterall everything written into the good books is open to interpretation (not to preach interpretation but to maintain your own) by whomsoever chooses to read it. I could go on but won't, wink wink. anyways I will share this, easter morning I was awaken by what sounded like gunshots, as I came to learn later Easter day they were infact gunshots, here in the great state of utah we had two murders Easter sunday inside of twelve hours. For us this is very unprecedented and for it to happen on Easter sunday......well if I was unhappy about it I can only begin to try to imagine how our lord and saviour took it(and this is just one small corner of the world). I am LOVED! and Love has an incredible inconcievable amount of patience and I won't even get started on forgiveness(WHAT EASTER IS ABOUT RIGHT), however looking at the world, those of us who are not blinded completely to the truth(those who read news other than the likes of fox) and believe in god, surely must realize most of mankind in its blindness, deafness and silence, (I mean bad things happen and if you look the other way thats fine by me, but if you see it and call it success, well el presidente and followers of el presidente thats just not right.) mankind in my humble opinion has been as it seems to me, pushing what might be limits of our almighty creater, if there are limits.

The Guardian

The human race is living beyond its means. A report backed by 1,360 scientists from 95 countries - some of them world leaders in their fields - today warns that the almost two-thirds of the natural machinery that supports life on Earth is being degraded by human pressure.
The study contains what its authors call "a stark warning" for the entire world. The wetlands, forests, savannahs, estuaries, coastal fisheries and other habitats that recycle air, water and nutrients for all living creatures are being irretrievably damaged. In effect, one species is now a hazard to the other 10 million or so on the planet, and to itself.

Article continues

"Human activity is putting such a strain on the natural functions of Earth that the ability of the planet's ecosystems to sustain future generations can no longer be taken for granted,"

You must have spent a lot of time putting together your blog. You must be proud of it.

I am planning to start a blog soon - to go with my website on offshore platform foundation.

Do you have any advice for someone just starting their own blog?

If you do, do you think you could post a quick message on your blog here so all of us could benefit from your wisdom?

Thanks

Personally, I've always found offshore tax haven to be very intriguing, and interesting, but not always very informative. So I did some research and started my own webpage to help people get started with offshore tax haven.

If offshore tax haven also piques your interest, come by when you've got a few seconds - check out the different resources listed. I'm sure you'll find it very interesting.
